Greetings,

Here is a male patient of mine who has a case of LPP which is a form of scarring alopecia. He has lost small patches of scalp hair in no specific distribution secondary to the disease process and he lost all his eyebrow hair as well. He previously had an eyebrow tattoo and was disappointed with the look and presented to me for eyebrow transplants.

I explained to the patient that scarring alopecia is a very unpredictable process and that no guarantees could be made as to the success of the eyebrow transplant. Due to the fact that he had scattered patched affected in the scalp I felt our greatest chance of success was to perform the procedure with an FUE harvest and to find unaffected areas of the scalp to harvest the donor hair from.

I personally harvested every follicle using a 0.8mm motorized punch. We only placed single hair grafts into the eyebrows. We placed approximately 270 hairs per eyebrow.

The results here are shown after only 6 months. The patient should see some increased growth over the next 2-3 months.

The patient is beyond thrilled. The lack of eyebrow hair previously was a constant reminder of his disease process and the new eyebrows have given him a new self confidence.

Greetings,

This is a patient who previously underwent an FUE procedure performed by another physician with unnatural results secondary to the placement of large grafts in the hairline. I created more density and placed single hair grafts into the hairline to create a more natural look. The grafts were harvested via FUE using a 0.8mm motorized punch tip. Approximately 400 single hair grafts were placed into the hairline to create a much more natural look.

Unfortunately there are many physicians offering hair transplants that are not properly trained. It is imperative that you do your research before deciding on your surgeon and always chose someone who specializes exclusively in hair restoration.

Greetings,

Here is a patient from Asia who underwent an eyebrow transplant procedure with a local surgeon. Unfortunately her results were very unnatural. She had “cobble stoning” in the eyebrows (usually from incorrect grafts placement) as well as a very small amount of growth and unnatural growth of the hairs.

I placed approximately 450 grafts into each eyebrow over 2 procedures and the results are shown below.

The patient is thrilled with her results and states that her eyebrows have given her a renewed self confidence.

It is imperative to chose a surgeon with extensive eyebrow transplant experience as this is a very nuanced procedure that requires a tremendous amount of artistic vision as well as technological expertise.

Greetings,

Dr. Kian Karimi is a world renowned Los Angeles based Facial Plastic Surgeon. In the video below Dr. Karimi describes his experience undergoing a hair transplant procedure that I performed.

I am grateful to have the opportunity to treat such amazing patients and also grateful that Dr. Karimi has agreed to share his experience undergoing the procedure, which no doubt will help others.

I hope you enjoy watching.

Greetings,

Here is a male patient of mine who wanted more fullness to his eyebrows. We extracted his donor follicles via FUE. In the video the patient shares his experience undergoing the procedure and his satisfaction with the results.

I hope you enjoy watching.

Greetings,

Last week I had an eyebrow transplant patient who flew in from Dallas for her procedure. She had lost her eyebrows after a laser treatment gone awry that removed most of her existing eyebrow hair. Her story was featured on the local news and you can watch it from the link below. In the video she is approximately one week post procedure but you can already see the dramatic change.

All the best,

Marc Dauer, M.D.

Greetings,

FUE hair transplants are the process where individual hair follicles are extracted with a tool and then transplanted into areas of hair loss. In order to extract the follicles the hair needs to be cut down to it’s shortest length above the skin so that the hair doesn’t get tangled in the tool extracting the grafts. This means shaving the scalp in most cases.

For patient’s having procedures which require less than 1500 grafts extracted there is now another option. The patient can grow the hair in the back and sides longer and we can shave either one large strip (smaller than the length of the hair) or multiple smaller strips (also smaller than the length of the hair) which allows the native long hair to hang down and cover up the extracted areas.

This allows the patient to keep the long hair and not shave the entire back and sides of the scalp and still have an FUE hair transplant. This technique is becoming very popular amongst actors (who can’t change their appearance if they have longer hair in the midst of a recurring show) and other individuals that do not want such a dramatic change to their appearance. The results are just as good as the full shaven technique and it is proving to be a very popular alternative to traditional FUE shaving.

I have included some photos of a recent patient I performed this technique on.

All the best,

Marc Dauer, M.D.

Greetings,

Here is a patient of mine who received 1560 grafts via FUE to the frontal scalp and temporal peaks. He has graciously agreed to share his experience undergoing the procedure from day 1 until now, 1 year post procedure.

Greetings,

Here is a patient of mine who wanted a Tom Selleck circa Magnum PI mustache. His mustache was a little thin genetically.

I harvested just over 700 grafts via FUE using a 0.75mm extraction tip from the neck beard. That way I would be transferring hair from one area to another that has the same quality to it.

The “after” photos show the patient one week after the procedure and as you can see the scarring from the extractions in the donor area is almost invisible and the mustache appears significantly wider and denser than it was pre procedure. The patient will shed most of the transplanted mustache hairs and they will regrow starting at 3-4 months but this photo is a sneak peak into the final result that we should see in 9-12 months.

The patient is thrilled and excited to see his final results then.

All the best,

Marc Dauer, MD
