Hair Loss From Scars
Many people who have suffered hair loss because of scars have come to our Los Angeles hair transplant practice to get their missing hair back.
Scars that cause hair loss come about for a variety of reasons. Hair loss from scars can occur after many different plastic surgery procedures including, facelifts, browlifts, necklifts, etc. It can also occur after injuries such as a traumatic laceration that involves a wound closure with stitches or other methods, after burns, skin grafting, or healed wounds from cranial and other surgeries, to name just a few injuries that can cause hair loss. Because there is so much vascularity in the scalp, we can transplant Follicular Units of hair into the areas of scarring and they demonstrate good growth. Typically an old scar can be significantly concealed after 1 or 2 procedures of Follicular Unit Hair Transplantation. The donor hair is harvested in the same manner as done in standard cases, either by the “Strip Method” or Follicular Unit Extraction.
