HAIR LOSS FROM SCARS

Hair loss from scars, scarring hair loss, may occur for a variety of reasons. It can occur after many different plastic surgery procedures including, facelifts, browlifts, necklifts, etc. It can also occur after a traumatic laceration that involves a wound closure, or after burns, skin grafting, or cranial surgery. Because there is so much vascularity in the scalp, we can transplant Follicular Units of hair into the areas of scarring and they demonstrate good growth. Typically an old scar can be significantly concealed after 1 or 2 procedures of Follicular Unit Hair Transplantation. The donor hair is harvested in the same manner as done in standard cases, either by the “Strip Method” or Follicular Unit Extraction.
