A Note From A Fellow Hair Restoration Surgeon

Greetings,

Today I received the kindest email from a well renown hair restoration surgeon regarding my eyebrow transplant results.

I will post it below.

All the best,

Marc Dauer, M.D.

Dr. Dauer,
I have been doing hair transplants for 11 years. And yeah, I’m a Diplomate of the American Board of Neurological Surgery and the American Board of Hair Restoration Surgery, and I’m a “FISHRS,” but the truth is that I’ve not done (or seen, for that matter) more than a couple of eyebrows I’ve been happy with. I stumbled across your website in search of what a good eyebrow transplant could look like……and I was totally blown away. Your work is, hands down, the best I’ve ever seen. And the lack of swelling or bruising in the early post-op period is remarkable. What really impressed me is that, unlike some other surgeons who show the one or two good results they’ve had, you seem to have an endless number of outstanding Before & After photos.
I was going to just go on with my day after leaving your website, but I couldn’t do so without complimenting you and your team on having set the bar for eyebrow restoration. Some day, perhaps I’ll ask if I could come for a visit and learn some of your tricks.

Eyebrow and Eyelash Transplant Article

Greetings,

Here is a link to a recent article from the UK press about a woman who underwent an eyebrow and eyelash transplant. Eyebrow transplants have recently become much more common as more people have discovered this procedure exists. Eyelash transplants are much more uncommon. Because the hair is taken from the scalp it will grow longer and need to be trimmed. This poses 2 problems for eyelash transplants. Firstly the hair can grow into the eye, thus scratching the cornea. Secondly, because you will need to trim the eyelash hairs every few weeks there is a high risk of injury to the eye. In addition, because the eyelid is so thin, and has so many muscles and nerves in a small area, there is a very high incidence of complications in eyelash procedures. It is for all these reason that I do not perform eyelash transplant procedures.

On the other hand, Eyebrow transplant procedures in the hands of an experienced eyebrow transplant surgeon can be very successful and I have been performing these procedures for over 10 years. In the patient highlighted in this article, she has a tremendous amount of eyebrow pencil makeup on her eyebrows in the “after” photo, thus not really giving an accurate image of what her transplanted eyebrows really look like.

Please feel free to click through my eyebrow transplant photos or go to my eyebrow transplant website www.EyebrowTransplantMD.com for more information.

All the best,

Marc Dauer, M.D.

Eyebrow Transplants For Men

Greetings,

I have been performing eyebrow transplants for over 10 years and was one of the first physicians to focus on this aspect of hair transplantation. The creative component to eyebrow transplants is very different than transplanting hair on the scalp. In many cases we need to fit hundred of hair follicles into a very tiny space, all with a very particular angle and orientation and all to create a completely natural shape which is very visible on the face. It is for this reason that the best eyebrow transplant results typically come from physicians that are performing many of these cases and have a very high artistic component to their work.

More often recently I am getting inquiries from men asking for eyebrow transplants. In the past it was traditionally women who inquired about this procedure, but as more people find out about it, men are opting for the procedure as well. In this particular case the male patient had very weak eyebrows from birth and had an eyebrow tattoo performed to create the illusion of eyebrows. Most people are very dissatisfied with eyebrow tattoos and this patient was no exception. He did not like the shape of the tattoo (he felt the arch was too feminine) and it was very unnatural looking overall. He presented to me to create a more masculine shape (flatter) and to create natural looking eyebrows over the existing tattoo. The results below are shown 6 months after the patient received his eyebrow transplant. He should see a little more growth over the next 3-6 months, but he is already very happy with the current results.

All the best,

Marc Dauer, M.D.

Eyebrow Transplant Patient Photos

Greetings,

Here is a patient I just performed an eyebrow transplant on. eyebrow transplant patient photos  are shown 2 weeks after the procedure. Some of the grafts have already fallen out as the grafts begin to shed after about 7 days. The grafts all begin to regrow at 8-12 weeks and by 6 months about 60% of the new hairs are growing. As you can see from the photos there is very little redness or crusting present. This patient received approximately 350 grafts to each eyebrow in this eyebrow transplant procedure.

Eyebrow Transplant Information Video

Greetings,

Here is a new video I just edited that demonstrates my approach to eyebrow transplants and eyebrow restoration. In the video I demonstrate the shape and angulation of the hairs in the eyebrow which are all crucial to the most natural final result.

I hope you enjoy.

Eyebrow Transplant After 4 Days

Greetings,

Here is a patient of mine who received 746 grafts to both eyebrows 4 days prior. There is minimal residual swelling present and some minor crusting, but the overall photos give a very nice idea of what the final result of the eyebrow transplant will look like after the new hair is all grown in. Typically most of the transplanted hairs will fall off after 1-4 weeks. The new follicles leave stem cells in the dermis that will sprout the new eyebrow hair follicles after 12 weeks. The final  result will be visible after about 9 months, but there will be a marked improvement after 6 months.

This patient is thrilled with how her eyebrows look now immediately after the eyebrow transplant procedure, and I will follow up this post with 6-9 month post procedure photos in the future.

All the best.

Marc Dauer, M.D.

FUE (Follicular Unit Extraction) Harvest to Transplant Into Eyebrow Scar

Greetings,

Today I will demonstrate a case I recently performed utilizing FUE (Follicular Unit Extraction) to harvest the individual follicles and subsequently transplanted the follicles into and eyebrow scar. Traditionally I would not usually perform FUE in an eyebrow transplant case as it only requires a small incision in order to harvest the number of follicles necessary in order to restore typical eyebrows to normal appearing density. In patients who insist on shaving their hair extremely short (#2 buzz cut or shorter) FUE is a better option in order to make sure that the scar does not show through. In a small FUE case I do not have to shave the entire donor area, and can shave a small strip of hair to harvest the donor follicles and then the patient can cover the donor region by combing the hair above over the shaved area. As you can see from these results the transplanted follicles into the scar grey very nicely and the patient was very happy with the final outcome. I have also used FUE to harvest follicles from the neck in order to transplant into mustache scars (in patients with cleft palate deformities and others) and other beard scars with excellent results. Below I have shown the before and after photos of this patient with the eyebrow scar.

All the best,

Marc Dauer, M.D.
