Greetings,

Here is a patient of mine who received 1560 grafts via FUE to the frontal scalp and temporal peaks. He has graciously agreed to share his experience undergoing the procedure from day 1 until now, 1 year post procedure.

I hope you enjoy watching.

All the best,

Marc Dauer, M.D.

Greetings,

Here is a patient of mine who wanted a Tom Selleck circa Magnum PI mustache. His mustache was a little thin genetically.

I harvested just over 700 grafts via FUE using a 0.75mm extraction tip from the neck beard. That way I would be transferring hair from one area to another that has the same quality to it.

The “after” photos show the patient one week after the procedure and as you can see the scarring from the extractions in the donor area is almost invisible and the mustache appears significantly wider and denser than it was pre procedure. The patient will shed most of the transplanted mustache hairs and they will regrow starting at 3-4 months but this photo is a sneak peak into the final result that we should see in 9-12 months.

The patient is thrilled and excited to see his final results then.

All the best,

Marc Dauer, MD

Greetings,

Here is a result of an eyebrow transplant in a female African American patient of mine. The results are shown after 1 year. I always let all patients know that the quality of their scalp hair will stay the same when I move it to the eyebrow. Despite the curly nature of this patient’s hair her results are very natural and she is thrilled. The right eyebrow grew in perfectly. The left eyebrow can use about 20 hairs to fill in a couple light spots. Eyebrow transplant patients can expect 90-95% growth of the transplanted follicles, however we never know which ones won’t regrow. In this case, we will be performing a small FUE procedure to extract the 20 hairs and will fill in the spots in the left eyebrow to make them both as close to perfect as possible.

All the best,

Marc Dauer, MD

Greetings,

Here is a patient who came to me after having undergone 2 previous trip harvest procedures from another local physician. He decided he was done with the strip harvest procedure and wanted to have an FUE procedure. When I shaved the scalp to perform FUE his precious strip scars were clearly visible and also demonstrated how his previous physician had created “stacked scars” in certain locations instead of including the old strip scar in the new incision.

This is against the 10 commandments of hair transplant surgery.

In every instance of a patient having another strip harvest hair transplant procedure after having one prior, the previous scar should be removed.

If the previous scar is too wide or the scalp too tight FUE should be considered.

NEVER should a physician create a stacked scar, which in reality just creates  one huge scar.

This is a prime example of what not to do and is either laziness or ignorance on the part of the hair transplant surgeon who did this.

On this procedure the patient was primarily concerned with creating density in the frontal scalp, but after seeing these photos, the patient has decided in the future to have me place FUE grafts into these scars to help cover them.

Just another example of why it is imperative to do thorough research prior to choosing your hair transplant surgeon.

All the best,

Marc Dauer, M.D.

Greetings,

Here is a recent piece on CBS News where I discuss my approach to eyebrow transplants and one of my patients discusses her experience undergoing the procedure.

I hope you enjoy watching.

Greetings,

Here is a patient of mine who happens to be a physician himself who was experiencing thinning in the frontal scalp. The patient is in his late 20’s so we were not going to consider lowering the hairline, but rather increasing the density in the frontal scalp. Also, because of the patient’s young age and the fact that he will likely lose significantly more hair in the future, the decision was made to use a judicious number of grafts so as to maintain donor grafts for the future when more hair loss occurs.

The patients results are shown after 1 year and he is thrilled!

Marc Dauer, M.D.

Greetings,

Here is another interview I did with Spencer Kobren of “The Bald Truth” discussing the things to look out for in your hair transplant surgeon and in the planning of your hair transplant procedure.

It is imperative to “get it right” the first time so that you don’t end up with an unnatural look or a problem in the donor or recipient region.

I hope you enjoy watching.

Greetings,

Here is a patient of mine I recently saw in a 1 year follow up. He happens to be a physician himself and wrote a testimonial that I have posted below describing his experience undergoing his hair transplant procedure.

I hope you enjoy reading.

All the best,

Marc Dauer, MD

I was on the fence regarding hair transplant, and an now over one year after the procedure.  The changes are gradual, and only those who I told I had the procedure could tell I had it.  Interestingly, I’ve received other comments regarding my appearance, for example, asking if I’ve lost weight.  I haven’t lost weight, but could not be more pleased with my decision to undergo the hair transplant.
Dr. Dauer should be your first and last stop for hair transplantation.  Being a fellow MD, albeit in a different specialty, the candor and professionalism offered by Dr. Dauer was reassuring, as I had preconceived notions what would be best for me in that I believed FUE would be ideal.  Dr. Dauer patiently and thoroughly went over my options after his examination, and we decided on the strip harvest procedure.  He is an expert with both, and I could not be more pleased with the decision to go with this option and the results.  The process is gradual, and having a follow up with Dr. Dauer a bit over a year reminded me of the significant improvement in density, coverage and fullness when I viewed by pre-procedure photos and my scar is pretty much invisible.  In short, one of the better decisions vising Dr. Dauer and placing my trust in his care.  Long Beach, Physician
